“The Tortoise and the Hare” by Tracea Glover, Contributing Writer

The tortoise and the hare…..

We all know this story. It’s about what becomes of boasting blindly. In it, a mistakenly self assured hare is convinced a tortoise, is no match for him; its classic cocky vs. confident.

In exploring the topic, we understand confidence is knowing who you are and what you’re capable of; finding comfort in your strengths and weaknesses. Cockiness however, is like reckless audacity. It’s an overt bragging that admits no flaws and presents no genuine appeal. Remaining hushed, confidence understands time will tell. In that, it exudes a calm attraction

This yin and yang ideology is a mainstay in every facet of our lives. It sets the tone for most every encounter. And while confidence offers a refreshing, motivated welcome, cocky gives you its proverbial hind parts to kiss; daring you to frown your face.

Now, although it provides a certain level of entertainment, cockiness doesn’t normally wear well for long and in the end, always looses any chance at credibility. Whereas, confidence no matter the circumstance, is worn as a well tailored suit…..with swagger.

So the question is posed: Who are you; the tortoise or the hare?

P.S. Don’t be fooled. Humility is sexy.
