As a continuation to last month’s edition of Manscaping, we address the benefits and importance of regular scheduled manicure and pedicure.
Generally speaking, most men associate the mani-pedi with women, metrosexuals, or anyone but “real” men. Contrary to your opinion, “real” men get manicures sans the nail polish. Nail maintenance is more essential to your health than you may know.
Manicure: Short nails do not hold dirt and debris, which leads to less chance of the transfer of bacteria or disease from your hands to someone else. I personally pass on the nail polish and go with a light buffing for a cleaner presentation.
Pedicure: Calluses are generally not harmful, but may sometimes lead to other problems, such as skin ulceration or infection. Plus, a lack of maintenance, i.e. calloused heals, hang and ingrown toenails can lead to soreness, and irritated feet. I am sure that professionals who work on their feet can agree with that.
Why do it?: Well, besides the aforementioned health reasons… women like it. If you disagree ask a woman her perspective. You may be surprised at what she has to say. The massage alone will be a relaxing experience which is good for your heart and overall well-being.
If you are like most hard-working men who spend long hours on their feet, use their hands for everything from construction, to punching keys on a computer. A trip to your local nail salon is well deserve and well overdue!
Your hands, feet and significant other will be thankful you did.
