To kettlebell or not to kettlebell, there is no question…

I was preparing this post and found myself engulfed in information on this fitness apparatus, for lack of a better phrase, that I added to my workout routines more that 5 years ago. The kettlebell looks like a cannonball with a handle but it provides a full body workout that cannot be duplicated, contrary to popular opinion, by dumbbells or barbels. I can honestly say that it will help everyone from MMA competitors to weekend warriors. Here’s a little history on this superweight.

“Kettlebells originated in Russia, and the first recorded mention of them was in 1704 within a Russian dictionary. The Russian
word for Kettlebells is “girya,” and the men who lifted these weights were called “gireviks.” Kettlebells gained recognition as a superb weight loss tool when they were featured in the fitness magazine Hercules in 1913. In the recent history of the Kettlebell, they have become increasingly popular within the United States thanks to a man named Pavel Tsatsouline.” – Mike Bromley

Look up Pavel Tsasouline and you will see the movements as well as the benefits of adding the kettlebell to your workout routine. It’s springtime, time to spring into action. Get it right get it tight!
